New Comers"

      So here you are another graduate from a well known Fashion School. Ready to begin their little adventure in the Fashion World. Well let me tell you that is not Glamorous at all, unless you land and awesome Design Director job working for a couture house. (And to even get there you need to get your hands dirty). That being said here are some pointers that you might need to get a job. They are not new pointers, but for some reason when leave school is like we have lost our common sense.

1. Clothing: So if you are in fashion we expect you to look fashionable. The old blk suiting is long gone. There are so many creative ways to look trendy, and professional. Find the best look that suits you. For example I interview this girl when peplum tops were hot. She wore a fitted long pencil skirt, a beautiful peplum top with a really high bum, She was professional yet on trend. So have fun but remember this is " MUY IMPORTANTE"

2. Communication: When you show up for an interview make sure you leave your nerves at the door and just be yourself. You want to find a perfect fit for "you", so you can develop your talents to their full potential. I know everyone else tell you be professional blah, blah, and yes. I'm not saying pick your nose in the interview, but don't over do it's just not cool. Speak clear, do research about the company, and most important high light one of your skills that will separate form the herd. Don't sell yourself short but don't be obnoxious, maintain the perfect balance at all times.

3. Portfolio: Keep it fashionable, clean and simple. I've done a lot interviews, and I cannot tell how many newbies are overwhelming when they show their portfolios.
What we are looking for is: can you draw, do trend boards, color coordinate, what is your strength examples: knits, wovens, bottoms. etc. and your passion to be in this business.
